arrival in guatemala

After getting up at the ungodly hour of 4am for my flight, I arrived in Guatemala with no problems. Customs was a breeze and I got a collective taxi that left right when I walked out the door of the airport. I had heard about this thing called Guatemala time, but so far I have been lucky and everything has come pretty quickly. Trouble came to paradise when I couldn't find a hotel until The Hotel Dia Verde showed up on my radar. All i can say is that it's a bed... Tonight is New Years Eve and, apparently, Antigua puts on a bit of a party for New Years. Streets blocked off, bands playing, lots of dancing and I hear Guatemalans really like fireworks. I mean really like fireworks! Last night I visited The Monoloco (Crazy Monkey) and had a few beers with some expats. Today I got another hotel for the next week so it looks like I'm liking this place. More to come, and pics soon, I promise.
